bio

Charlie in the Box is the final incarnation of singer/songwriter Anthony Bitetti’s one-man band.  Starting his freshman year of high school, Anthony would write and record songs using a minidisk 8 track in his bedroom (mostly acoustic songs, with some keyboard, and some percussion).  Eventually he gathered up quite a few songs he considered “good enough” and he released (to a very small audience) a four-disc set of bedroom recordings entitled “Summer is Over”.  Disappointed in his effort he tore down his entire model for songwriting and began all over again.

Over the next couple of years he wrote, recorded, erased, re-recorded, and finished his second full length “the Suburban LP”, which he released the summer before his junior year.  A much more eclectic, and interesting effort, the songs on “the Suburban LP” ranged from blues, to pop, and to spite his puberty stricken voice, were filled with passion and depth.  Still not quite satisfied with his lack of definition, he proceeded to reinvent himself again.

While in his first year of college he wrote, recorded, and released his third full length “Welcome to the Island of Misfit Toys”.  In the records 63 minute run time, you heard the growth of this young artist trying to find his voice in a world of so many different styles of music, you could get lost for centuries exploring them all.  It was time to polish this specific style, in which Anthony had found his home.

A mix of catchy pop-hooks, and dirty guitar, with fuzzed out bass, and passionate vocals, his newest record “lifeiswhathappenswhileyouremakingplans” is finished, and he can finally take a breath knowing that he has made something he can be fully proud of.

The song “Science Fiction” was recorded as part of the 2010 FAWM contest.  Along with a few others, Charlie in the Box will be looking to put together a new record sometime in the spring of 2011.

You can also hear Anthony Bitetti in his other band Good Kids Sprouting Horns on [dog]and[pony] records.
