liner notes
isaac says: until recently, sin of the summer was available on my website... but i let the domain expire and it was promptly bought up by a fleshlight vendor. instead of just moving the files over to uylf, i thought i'd do something special and put together a second "disc" of demos, alternate versions and unreleased tunes. hope you enjoy!
we're pretty excited about this gargantuan release. over 80 minutes of music from our very own isaac quatorze, much of it being released for the first time.
disc one is isaac's rather epic anti-concept album, sin of the summer. written and recorded in under a month for a FAWM challenge, this is a record with no rules. pop songs live next to wacked out sonic chopping experiments, all in the name of headphone-oriented fun.
with a little help on drums and guitar from fellow winnipegger grant partridge of the eardrums, and a guest appearance by denmark's tim wille-jorgensen, isaac has crafted an addictively unique album that you'll want to play for your all friends and frenemies.
forgive us for gushing, but it's disc two that has us bouncing around uylf HQ. featuring demos from 2007 through 2010, and some super-secret gems nobody has heard before today, the freedux bonus disc is as rewarding a listen as sin of the summer itself, if even more disjointed and eclectic.
sin of the summer freedux! presents an indie-pop songsmith at the top of his game. spanning from beat-driven experiments ("Violet", "St-Jean Baptiste", "Showered in Nisku") to synth-jam monsters ("Super Horrocious", "I've Got a File Folder", "Quite Enough Thank You"), touching upon Beatles-inspired powerpop ("Crisis in 54401", "ASCII Skull") and catchy slabs of distortion ("Right-Wing Cowboy", "Partyline, Anymore"), this album is completely unpredictable, but feels like a lifelong favorite from the first listen.
all songs written by isaac quatorze, except "partyline, anymore" co-written with scott mcbride.

this is great, there's so many grin-inducing moments in these songs - unexpected 8-bit synth leads, clattering drums, brilliant lyrics. I'm intrigued by "Ashley's the nice one", which is probably my favourite song here. What is it about?
